All God’s creatures got a place in the choir
Lyrics

All God’s creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher,
Some sing out loud on a telephone wire,
Some just clap their hands, or paws, or anything they’ve got now

All God’s creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher,
Some sing out loud on a telephone wire,
Some just clap their hands, or paws, or anything they’ve got now

Listen to the top where the little bird sings
On the melodies and the high notes ringing,
And the hoot owl cries over everything
And the blackbird disagrees

Singing in the night time, singing in the day,
When little duck quacks, and he’s on his way
And the otter hasn’t got much to say
And the porcupine talks to himself

All God’s creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher,
Some sing out loud on a telephone wire,
Some just clap their hands, or paws, or anything they’ve got now

The dogs and the cats they take up the middle
While the honeybee hums and the cricket fiddles,
The donkey brays and the pony neighs
And the old gray badger sighs

Listen to the bass, it’s the one on the bottom
Where the bullfrog croaks and the hippopotamus
Moans and groans with a big t’do
And the old cow just goes moo

All God’s creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher,
Some sing out loud on a telephone wire,
Some just clap their hands, or paws, or anything they’ve got now

It’s a simple song a little song everywhere
By the ox and the fox and the grizzly bear,
The dopey alligator and the the hawk above,
The sly old weasel and the turtle dove

All God’s creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher,
Some sing out loud on a telephone wire,
Some just clap their hands, or paws, or anything they’ve got now

All God’s creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher,
Some sing out loud on a telephone wire,
Some just clap their hands, or paws, or anything they’ve got now

All God’s creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher,
Some sing out loud on a telephone wire,
Some just clap their hands, or paws, or anything they’ve got now

All God’s creatures got a place in the choir

CAN’T STOP THE FEELING – LYRICS

I got this feeling inside my bones
It goes electric, wavey when I turn it on
All through my city, all through my home
We’re flying up, no ceiling, when we in our zone

I got that sunshine in my pocket
Got that good soul in my feet
I feel that hot blood in my body when it drops
I can’t take my eyes up off it, moving so phenomenally
Room on lock, the way we rock it, so don’t stop

And under the lights when everything goes
Nowhere to hide when I’m getting you close
When we move, well, you already know
So just imagine, just imagine, just imagine

Nothing I can see but you when you dance, dance, dance
A feeling good, good, creeping up on you
So just dance, dance, dance, come on
All those things I shouldn’t do
But you dance, dance, dance
And ain’t nobody leaving soon, so keep dancing
I can’t stop the feeling
So just dance, dance, dance
I can’t stop the feeling
So just dance, dance, dance, come on

Ooh, it’s something magical
It’s in the air, it’s in my blood, it’s rushing on
I don’t need no reason, don’t need control
I fly so high, no ceiling, when I’m in my zone

‘Cause I got that sunshine in my pocket
Got that good soul in my feet
I feel that hot blood in my body when it drops
I can’t take my eyes up off it, moving so phenomenally
Room on lock, the way we rock it, so don’t stop

Under the lights when everything goes
Nowhere to hide when I’m getting you close
When we move, well, you already know
So just imagine, just imagine, just imagine

Nothing I can see but you when you dance, dance, dance
Feeling good, good, creeping up on you
So just dance, dance, dance, come on
All those things I shouldn’t do
But you dance, dance, dance
And ain’t nobody leaving soon, so keep dancing
I can’t stop the feeling
So just dance, dance, dance
I can’t stop the feeling
So just dance, dance, dance
I can’t stop the feeling
So just dance, dance, dance
I can’t stop the feeling
So keep dancing, come on

I can’t stop the, I can’t stop the
I can’t stop the, I can’t stop the
I can’t stop the feeling

Nothing I can see but you when you dance, dance, dance (I can’t stop the feeling)
Feeling good, good, creeping up on you
So just dance, dance, dance, come on (I can’t stop the feeling)
All those things I shouldn’t do
But you dance, dance, dance (I can’t stop the feeling)
And ain’t nobody leaving soon, so keep dancing

Everybody sing (I can’t stop the feeling)
Got this feeling in my body (I can’t stop the feeling)
Got this feeling in my body (I can’t stop the feeling)
Wanna see you move your body (I can’t stop the feeling)
Got this feeling in my body
Break it down
Got this feeling in my body
Can’t stop the feeling
Got this feeling in my body, come on

ST KEV’S GOT TALENT – Choir rehearsal resources

LEAN ON ME (short version)

Verse 1
Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there’s always tomorrow

Chorus
Lean on me, when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need
Somebody to lean on
(wait 4 bars of 4 beats)

Verse 2
Please swallow your pride
If I have faith you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you won’t let show

(Straight in )

Chorus
Lean on me, when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need
Somebody to lean on

(straight in)
You just call on me, brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you’ll understand
We all need somebody to lean on

Chorus (straight in)
Lean on me, when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need
Somebody to lean on

When I Grow Up from Matilda the musical  – lyricist and composer Tim Minchin

The Choir’s backing track for When I Grow Up

Have fun singing along!!

When I Grow Up

When I grow up
I will be tall enough to reach the branches
that I need to reach to climb the trees
you get to climb when you’re grown up.

And when I grow up
I will be smart enough to answer all
the questions that you need to know
the answers to before you’re grown up.

And when I grow up
I will eat sweets every day
on the way to work and I
will go to bed late every night!

And I will wake up
when the sun comes up and I
will watch cartoons until my eyes go square

and I won’t care ’cause I’ll be all grown up!

When I grow up!

When I grow up, when I grow up
(When I grow up)
I will be strong enough to carry all
the heavy things you have to haul
around with you when you’re a grown-up!

And when I grow up, when I grow up
(When I grow up)
I will be brave enough to fight the creatures
that you have to fight beneath the bed
each night to be a grown-up!

And when I grow up
(When I grow up)
I will have treats every day.
And I’ll play with things that mum pretends
that mums don’t think are fun.

And I will wake up
when the sun comes up and I
will spend all day just lying in the sun
and I won’t burn ’cause I’ll be all grown-up!

When I grow up!

When I grow up. I will be brave enough to fight the
creatures that you have to fight beneath the bed each
night to be a grown-up.
(When I grow up)

Just because you find that life’s not fair, it
doesn’t mean that you just have to grin and bear it.
If you always take it on the chin and wear it
nothing will change!

When I grow up

Just because I find myself in this story,
It doesn’t mean that everything is written for me.
If I think the ending is fixed already,
I might as well be saying
I think that it’s OK!

And that’s not right!
And if its not right!
I’ve got to put it right!

Lean On Me

The backing track is different to this version but this is a good one for learning the lyrics and getting a ‘feel’ for how the choir will perform ‘Lean On Me’

The Choir’s backing track for Lean on Me

“Lean On Me”

Sometimes in our lives
We all have pain, we all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there’s always tomorrow

Lean on me when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on
For it won’t be long
‘Til I’m gonna need somebody to lean on

Please, swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you won’t let show

You just call on me, brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on

We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me when you’re not strong
And I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on

‘Til I’m gonna need somebody to lean on

You just call on me, brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you’ll understand
We all need somebody to lean on

If there is a load
You have to bear that you can’t carry
I’m right up the road, I’ll share your load
If you just call me

Call me (If you need a friend)
Call me (Call me uh-huh)
Call me (When you need a friend)
Call me (If you ever need a friend)
Call me (Call me)
Call me (Call me)
Call me (Call me)
Call me (Call me)
Call me (If you need a friend)
Call me (Call me)
Call me (Call me)
Call me (Call me)

SEMESTER TWO 2015

The Cuckoo Clock Duet

Vocal Track

The Cuckoo Clock Duet Instrumental

1. High in a hill in Austria very many miles away, there is a little cuckoo shop, finest in the land, they say. In the window of the shop hanging on the wall, are a pair of cuckoo clocks, listen to their call.

Chorus 1.

Cuckoo, cuckoo, they sing a happy song, cuckoo. Cuckoo, cuckoo they sing it all day long. Cuckoo, cuckoo, they sing it all day long. Cuckoo, cuckoo, the song you won’t forget, cuckoo.

2. Over the hills of Austria, came the family Fruggenheim. Looking to buy a cuckoo clock. For they never knew the time. Hans and Heidi made the choice, Papa paid the price. Mama hung the clock at home, made their house look nice.

BRIDGE but there was something wrong, there was no cuckoo song, had Fruggenheim been burned? The clock must be returned.

3. Back through the hills of Austria Fruggenheim and family tread. Bearing the broken cuckoo clock, this is what the merchant said: ” I know just what the problem is, she has a broken heart. This has left a friend behind, her cuckoo counterpart”.

Chorus 2

Cuckoo, cuckoo, they bought a second clock, cuckoo, cuckoo, the only one in stock. Cuckoo, cuckoo, there is a happy end. Cuckoo, cuckoo she’ll always be a friend!

SEMESTER ONE

Here are the lyrics and vocal and instrumental tracks for the Term One songs. Please learn and rehearse at home.

TRUE COLOURS – lyrics

1. You with the sad eyes, don’t be discouraged oh I realise, it’s hard to take courage in a world full of people. You can lose sight of it all, and the darkness inside you can make you feel so small.

Chorus
But I see your true colours shining through. I see your true colours. That’s why I love you. So don’t be afraid, to let them show your true colours, true colours, are beautiful like a rainbow.

2. Show me a smile then, don’t be unhappy, can’t remember when I last saw you laughing. If this world makes you crazy, and you’ve taken all you can bear. You call me up, because you know I’ll be there. Chorus

3. If this world makes you crazy, and you’ve taken all you can bear. You call me up, because you know I’ll be there. Chorus.

‘TRUE’ MEMORIES …from 3 years ago!
The ‘final’ True Colours Music Video. This was an amazing ‘one take’ video (after a little vocal rehearsal and 5 minutes of ‘blocking’). Mrs Weston is very proud of everyone. This was a fantastic result as we were under time pressures but everyone worked together and knew what had to be done and improvised brilliantly when necessary. The performance communicated emotions and that was one of our goals. What are your reactions to your performance choir members? How could we have improved the performance?

LYRICS – SEND DOWN THE FIRE

REFRAIN

Send down the fire of your justice. Send down the rains of your love.

Come, send down the spirit, breathe life in your people and we shall be people of God

Give us hearts that sing, give us deeds that ring,

Make us ring with the song of your love.  REFRAIN

Give us hearts that feel, give us hands that heal.

Make us walk in the way of your peace.  REFRAIN

May your holy light, keep us shining bright.

Ever shine with the presence of Christ.

Preparing for 2014 Year End performances……….

A CHRISTMAS RAP
“Hail, full of Grace, the Lord is with you!” said the angel of the Lord. What would Mary do?

Mary was afraid so she visited a friend. A talk with Elizabeth calmed her in the end.

Refrain: CHRISTMAS, CHRISTMAS, CHRISTMAS, CHRISTMAS

They went to Bethlehem, they had to be counted. Joseph walked with Mary, on a donkey she was mounted.

Too many people, so they found no room, just a small, empty stable that lit by the moon. Refrain

Soon in the night, a gift came to the earth. ‘Twas the baby Jesus, this was a precious birth.

An angel told the shepherds, a star led the Kings. They came to see the baby, feel the joy that he brings.
Refrain.

This Christmas Rap is over but his message to be sure. Lives in our hearts today and shall for evermore!
Refrain.

‘HAPPY’ BACKING TRACK
‘HAPPY’ LYRICS

Pharrell Williams – Happy Lyrics

[Verse 1:]
It might seem crazy what I’m about to say
Sunshine she’s here, you can take a break
I’m a hot air balloon that could go to space
With the air, like I don’t care baby by the way

[Hook:]
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do

[Verse 2:]
Here come bad news talking this and that, yeah,
Well, give me all you got, and don’t hold back, yeah,
Well, I should probably warn you I’ll be just fine, yeah,
No offense to you, don’t waste your time
Here’s why

[Hook]

Hey, come on

[Bridge:]
(happy)
Bring me down
Can’t nothing bring me down
My level’s too high
Bring me down
Can’t nothing bring me down
I said (let me tell you now)
Bring me down
Can’t nothing bring me down
My level’s too high
Bring me down
Can’t nothing bring me down
I said

[Hook 2x]

Hey, come on

(happy)
Bring me down… can’t nothing…
Bring me down… my level’s too high…
Bring me down… can’t nothing…
Bring me down, I said (let me tell you now)

[Hook 2x]

Come on

You Are Mine
I will come to you in the silence
I will lift you from all your fears
You will hear my voice
I claim you as my choice
Be still and know I am here

I am hope for all who are hopeless
I am eyes for all who long to see
In the shadows of the night
I will be your light
Come and rest in me

Refrain
Do not be afraid I am with you
I have called you each by name
Come and follow me I will bring you home
I love you and you are mine.

I am strength for all the discouraged
Feeling for the ones who dwell in shame
All the blind will see, the lame will all run free
and all will know my name

I am the one that leads all to freedom
I am the peace the world cannot give
I will call your name, embracing all your pain
Stand up,now, walk and live.
I will call your name

‘YOU RAISE ME UP’ BACKING TRACK
‘YOU RAISE ME UP’ LYRICS

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.

There is no life – no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.

MAKE YOUR OWN KIND OF MUSIC – Enjoy singing along choir!!

Find your vocal range!

Mrs Weston is inspired by these choirs because they are so dedicated and focussed and they make me feel happy and uplifted at the same time!! Are you inspired by these children’s choirs? Why?

These performers have so much energy and their voices blend so beautifully.

What do you think of their performance?

Days can be sunny, with never a sigh
Don’t need what money can buy
Birds in the trees sing their day full of song
Why shouldn’t we sing along?

I’m chipper all the day, happy with my lot
How do I get that way? Look at what I’ve got

I got rhythm, I got music
I got my man/gal
Who could ask for anything more?
I got daisies, in green pastures
I got my man/gal
Who could ask for anything more?

Old man trouble
I don’t mind him
You won’t find him ’round my door
I got starlight
I got sweet dreams
I got my man/gal
Who could ask for anything more ?

This is one of the songs that has been suggested by choir members to learn for the genre of popular song. It’s called ‘Count on Me’ by Bruno Mars. Mrs Weston really likes this choice. Do you agree?

‘Castle on a Cloud’ from the musical ‘Les Miserables’ our choir song for the Music Theatre genre.

Child actor Hannah Chick, sang Castle on a Cloud at the 10th Anniversary Concert of Les Miserables.  She did very well to keep singing in character when a balloon suddenly burst! How do you think you might have reacted?

Even the choir ‘workshops’ are awesome! This is a ‘music video’ workshop for True Colours. Choir members, where do you see improvements can be made?

2012-10-23 15 20 12 from Marg Weston on Vimeo.

The ‘True Colours’ video below features our favourite choir ‘PS22’ from Graniteville, Staten Island, New York USA.

Over the next three weeks, choir sessions will focus on choreography for Under Southern Skies, making silhouettes and blocking the ‘dreamy’ Waltzing Matilda. If you have any ideas or feedback please post on the block. I am very pleased with everyone’s efforts to make the choir’s performances in ‘Waltzing Matilda’ the very best possible. Well done.

Here is the ‘Queensland’ version of Waltzing Matilda. Remember, if this is included in the final song arrangement, it will only be the 3rd verse(Down come the squatter mounted on his thoroughbred, down came the troopers, one, two three…) This version is sung by a very famous Australian singing group called The Seekers.

Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Click Go The Shears, Home Among The Gumtrees and Road to Gundagai will be a medley sung by the Grade 6s in choir at the start of the concert as the audience come in to be seated. A medley arrangement means only parts of each song are played without stopping.

Road to Gundagai

There’s a track winding back to an o-old fashioned shack
Along the road to Gundagai
Where the blue gums are growin’ and the Murrumbidgee’s flowin’
Beneath the sunny sky
There my mother and daddy are waitin’ for me
And the pals of my childhood once more I shall see
Then no more will I roam when I’m headin’ straight for home
Along the road to Gundagai

Out on the board the old shearer stands
Grasping his shears in his long bony hands
Fixed is his gaze on a bare-bellied “joe”
Glory if he gets her, won’t he make the ringer go

Chorus
Click go the shears boys, click, click, click
Wide is his blow and his hands move quick
The ringer looks around and is beaten by a blow
And curses the old snagger with the blue-bellied “joe”

In the middle of the floor in his cane-bottomed chair
Is the boss of the board, with eyes everywhere
Notes well each fleece as it comes to the screen
Paying strict attention if it’s taken off clean

The colonial-experience man he is there, of course
With his shiny leggin’s just got off his horse
Casting round his eye like a real connoisseur
Whistling the old tune “I’m the Perfect Lure”

The tar-boy is there awaiting in demand
With his blackened tar-pot and his tarry hand
Sees one old sheep with a cut upon its back
Here’s what he’s waiting for “Tar here Jack!”

Shearing is all over and we’ve all got our cheques
Roll up your swag for we’re off on the tracks
The first pub we come to it’s there we’ll have a spree
And everyone that comes along it’s, “Come and drink with me!”

Down by the bar the old shearer stands
Grasping his glass in his thin bony hands
Fixed is his gaze on a green-painted keg
Glory he’ll get down on it ere he stirs a peg

There we leave him standing, shouting for all hands
Whilst all around him every shouter stands
His eyes are on the cask which is now lowering fast
He works hard he drinks hard and goes to hell at last

You take off the belly-wool clean out the crutch
Go up the neck for the rules they are such
You clean round the horns first shoulder go down
One blow up the back and you then turn around

Click, click, that’s how the shears go
Click, click, so awfully quick
You pull out a sheep he’ll give a kick
And still hear your shears going click, click, click

Choir members. Watch this Youtube clip to help learn the melody and lyrics of the famous Australian song ‘Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport’ by Rolf Harris.

There’s an old Australian stockman, lying, dying
And he gets himself up onto one elbow, turns to his mates
Who are gathered ’round and he says

Watch me wallaby’s feed, mate, watch me wallaby’s feed
‘Ey! they’re a dangerous breed, mate, so watch me wallaby’s feed
All together now – tie me kangaroo down, sport, tie me kangaroo down
Tie me kangaroo down, sport, tie me kangaroo down

And keep me cockatoo cool, Curl, keep me cockatoo cool
Ah, don’t go actin’ the fool, Curl, just keep me cockatoo cool
All together now – tie me kangaroo down, sport, tie me kangaroo down
Tie me kangaroo down, sport, tie me kangaroo down

And take me koala back, Jack, take me koala back
He lives somewhere out on the track, Mac, so take me koala back
All together now – tie me kangaroo down, sport, tie me kangaroo down
Tie me kangaroo down, sport, tie me kangaroo down

And mind me platypus duck, Bill, mind me platypus duck
Ah, don’t let him go runnin’ amuck, Bill, just mind me platypus duck
All together now – tie me kangaroo down, sport, tie me kangaroo down
Tie me kangaroo down, sport, tie me kangaroo down

And play your didgeridoo, Blue, play your didgeridoo
Uh, like, keep playin’ till I shoot through, Blue, play your didgeridoo
All together now – tie me kangaroo down, sport, tie me kangaroo down
Tie me kangaroo down, sport, tie me kangaroo down

And tan me hide when I’m dead, Fred,
[hm-hm-hm] tan me hide when I’m dead
So we tanned his hide when he died, Clyde
and that’s it hanging on the shed
All together now – tie me kangaroo down, sport, tie me kangaroo down
Tie me kangaroo down, sport, tie me kangaroo dow

In choir, students learn to listen to others, be a risk taker by having a go, develop singing skills that include: correct breathing techniques, clear pronunciation and expression. Other skills and learning experiences include: singing a varied range of pitched sounds (particularly in vocal warm-ups) and singing songs of different tempos and styles. Choir members also learn how to perform for a variety of audiences including film for video presentations on the Performing Arts Blog. The choir are also inspired by the performances of other singers and singing groups particularly the members of the PS22 school choir in Boston, USA. http://ps22chorus.blogspot.com.au/

The awesome members of our Choir were asked to share how singing with a group makes them feel.
Their responses affirm why providing an opportunity for musical self-expression and development of performance skills is so essential. Some students choose to remain anonymous in their comments.

“When I sing I feel happy and proud of myself”. Audrey
“When I sing I feel happy, part of a community and cared for”. Tyson
“When I sing I feel; free, proud of my skill, like smiling, happy and get a funny feeling in my stomach”. Monisha
“When I sing I feel happy because I express myself in music”. Sharon

Well done choir for your performance at the opening of The Art Show!

Wow! A great Lip Dub..Firework from bubs to high school – ONE TAKE! Can we do it???!!!!

This is a really fun video of the song by Petula Clark that we are learning

LYRICS – COLOUR MY WORLD
You’ll never see a dark cloud hanging ’round me
Now there is only blue sky to surround me
There’s never been a gray day since you found me
Everything I touch is turned to gold

CHORUS:
So you can color my world with sunshine yellow each day
Oh you can color my world with happiness all the way
Just take the green from the grass and the blue from the sky up above
And if you color my world, just paint it with your love
Just color my world

Just as long as I know you’re thinking of me
There’ll be a rainbow always up above me
Since I found the one who really loves me
Everything I touch is turned to gold

(chorus)

Sunshine yellow, orange blossom
Laughing faces everywhere, yeah

(chorus)

Color my world, color my world

  1. A fantastic effort Choir, I especially enjoyed it when you start singing in a round. Lots of great movement in the video which made it much more entertaining to watch. I look forward to seeing your next video. Well Done!

    • Thanks for checking out the video Mrs Ryan. I am really pleased you enjoyed it and, I agree, my favourite part is when we hear the counter-part section and everyone is singing the right part at the right time and still keeping the energy levels high!

  2. WOW! That is fantastic, choir. Well done! I loved it. This is not an easy song to sing, but you make it look so much fun.

  3. Hi Choir….that was FANTASTIC!!! It brought back so many memories for me. I actually sang that song when I was in in Grade 5 choir. You sound really wonderful together – loved the actions. Can’t wait for more…

    • Thanks for your post Tracey. The choir will be very pleased that their performance reminded you of your own choir experience. Isn’t music wonderful the way it can bring back great memories? Marg Weston

  4. Hi Mrs Weston I think we should have a captain for Choir and all the grade 5 this year should get a job for next year.

    🙂

  5. Hi Mrs. Weston, I agree with Diveena. We should definetley have a choir captin starting from next year. I think that we should wait first to see who still wants to be in choir. I am really excited to do the lip dub video! I can’t wait! I also think that we should choir more then just once a week, we should have it on Wednesday (usual time) and Friday or Monday after lunch. Thanks, bye!

  6. Hey Mrs.Weston I think that there should be a choir cptain next year to help out with showcases and things and also we need the hats for Colour My World at the Art Show
    thanks,
    Nick

  7. Hey Mrs.Weston,
Just watching these videos remind me of all the things we did and watched last year. I can’t wait for this years choir! Is the song ‘Who put the bomp’ in Greece (the movie)? And will we be rehearsing for the concert during choir time?

    Thanks,
    Brydie. 🙂

    • Thanks for your comment Brydie. I agree, I think that choir really moved along heaps last year and part of that was being able to watch and be inspired by what we were able to observe online, particularly the PS22 choir in America. I checked with the soundtrack from Grease and Who Put the Bomp was not on te song list but many of the songs had a similar sound because of the era the (1960s). We are still planning in relation to the school production Brydie, but be sure you will know details as soon as you need to know!

  8. Hi Mrs. Weston,
I had a thought that as the choir captins (Grade 6’s) we should be involved in song choice and have things like meetings to discuss what the grade 6’s and yourself are thinking about choir.
    Thanks!

    • Thanks for your post Brydie. Let’s have a conversation tomorrow about this. Perhaps there could be an opportunity for a meeting of the Choir Leaders for first half of lunch on a Monday. Let’s discuss it and see what our options are. Mrs Weston

    • Hi Copper and thanks for your question about what might be the most appropriate way to perform Who Put The Bomp. We will organise to sing this song on stage when the choir is ready. Our rehearsal this week should be on the stage in the stadium and if we have a really focussed session we should be ready for week 9 (next week!!). We’ll work it out at our next rehearsal.

  9. I can’t wait till you post the choir’s “Who put the bomp” video! Tell Tyson that the Feldmans are looking forward to view it!

  10. My Mum has a suggestion for a song we could learn at St. Kevin’s. It’s on youtube, and it’s called The Unicorn Song. There’s a great clip of Aled Jones singing it with a children’s choir, and it’s beautiful. I’d love to know what you think, Mrs. Weston.

    • Thanks for having another view of the choir on the Performing Arts Blog Cooper and Ty. I still sing ‘Who Put The Bomp?’ to myself (and sometimes out loud) because it has such a good beat and happy message! ‘Shine’ is a song that communicates positive feelings as well. Can you think of other songs that make you feel good? Mrs Weston

  11. Mrs weston can we leave earlyer for choir because its sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fun I never want to leave choir ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Luke! You’re comment is excellent feedback for me because it lets me know how you feel about your decision to be in choir. At the moment it would be great if we could have more time for choir rehearsal leading up to Confirmation but we know we need to balance all our learning areas. Please let me know if you think any of your favourite songs could be included in the choir repertoire (repertoire means the songs that the choir learn and can perform).

  12. hi mrs weston luke reporting back there is a few songs that we can calling lose my mind sebastian ingrosso armin van burren promisses vs pressure

We liked that video because the men were so loud and good. (Angus and Sebastian)

  14. Thanks for your comments Prep S and Miss Soding. The male singers are very good aren’t they? They have many vocal skills, including strong projection! Do you think this song would suit our choir? Oh, Miss Soding, I was just thinking…I know you love to sing, so what do you think about us planning a choir session down the track where you and I might sing a song with our choir. Hey, Mrs Rutherford loves to sing too!? Maybe it could be a really cool jazz song, perhaps we could get the choir members to do some research about jazz and give us feedback? What do you think? Choir members who read this, please give your feedback and ideas!

  15. hi mrs weston I came to ask is comfirmation next sunday or this sunday???????????????????? please anser me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Hi Piper, the Confirmation Mass is this sunday the 20th of May at 2.30. The bus is leaving St Kevin’s at 1pm. and returning by 4pm. See you tomorrow. from Mrs Weston

  16. Hi Mrs.Weston I really like the choir page and I also like the colour my world video because it make’s me feel happy. From Bianca

    • Thanks for your post Bianca! Anything that makes you happy makes me happy too! Have you been singing along with Colour My World?

    • Thanks Luke. I really appreciate your assistance in helping me remember all the organisational and supporting details of our school production.

  17. Hi Mrs.Weston, its Brydie. Sorry for the delay. I am emailing you about ‘True Colours’.
    1 – ORDER 1st verse – Brydie
    2nd verse – Monisha
3rd verse – Nick and Daniel.
Monisha and I had the idea of humming the entrance to the song and the lead-up to each verse.

    Email again soon about more…
    From Brydie. 🙂

  18. Thanks for the ideas Brydie. We will plan to rehearse this once and then film. We also need to create a vocal track using Garage Band for year end. Could you please remind 5/6s to be ready for choir at 2.50 as this will be a very busy choir session where everyone is needed. Thanks!

  19. Dear Mrs Weston,
I really liked the music video that choir did and I am proud of it.
It was very good for a first attempt.
    From Heli.  

  20. Hi Mrs Weston (and the world!)
I think that with the ‘True Colours’ song we (grade 4’s) should stay sad for a little longer, because we are only looking down for about one and a half minutes. Also, when the grade 3’s and 5’s come in, we should wave to them, as if they helped comfort us further.
    More ideas later!

    Elena 😉

  21. Well. Goodness. I think I just used half a box of tissues. That was really moving. You created such a strong message and I think you really captured the spirit of St. Kevin’s. Beautifully done. Thank you.
    (Great stuff, Mrs. Weston! :-))

  22. Congratulations Choir for such a great performance! True Colours has always been on e of my favourite songs and I must say you haven’t disappointed me. Well done.

  23. Hi Mrs. Weston! How are you? Hope you are recovering well! Very glad you came to visit and see how we all were. We are preparing and practising well for graduation, can’t wait to see you there!
    See you soon (grad) 🙂
    From Brydie.

    • Hi Brydie and thanks for your post. I really enjoyed visiting the senior building last week and catching up with everyone. I’m not doing very much as I need to stay off my foot so I’m excited about getting out to the Graduation Mass next Thursday. Can you believe you and the rest of the 6s are about to finish??!!What happened to the last 7 years? Oh that’s right, we were ALL very busy being excellent learners!! See you soon! From MrsWeston

  24. Hi Mrs weston these are some very popular songs here they are.
Afrojack,Like Mike,Dimitri Vegas and Nervo and another is save the world by swedish house mafia.

    • Thanks for your post Bianca. I’ll add Bom Bom by Sam and the Womp and Owl City Good Time to my research list!! Enjoy your weekend! See you soon! Mrs Weston

  25. I have some tips on how to breathe when singing that you may want to share with the choir;
Breath with your diaphragm, not your chest. If you see your chest puff up when breathing, put a cross on it. If you’re breathing properly when singing, your stomach will blow up like a balloon, except the opposite way. By breathing in, you’re blowing up the balloon.
I learnt this from my teacher at the ACC (Australian Children’s Choir). He called a puffed up chest a “Tarzan Chest”!

    • Thanks for your ‘popular’ song suggestions Sophie. I’ll add them to the growing list. Other students have posted suggestions as well. Maybe you have have a read of them over the weekend. Mrs Weston

    • Thanks for your suggestion Alana. I’ll check out ‘I Know You Were Trouble’ as soon as I can. See you Monday. Mrs Weston

  26. Hi Mrs weston,
I was wondering if you can still choose a song for one of the genres pop cause if you can may I suggest the song 22 or stay stay stay by Taylor swift. Jennifer 😉

  27. Hello Mrs Weston,
Please choose the songs When can I see you again by Owl City, Get Along & Battlescars by Guy Sebastian 😀

    • I love that YOU love choir Alana. Singing is a wonderful way to feel good and express yourself. What amazing ideas do you have that we could consider for choir?

  29. Dear Mrs Weston,
I have been learning ‘Count on You’ by Bruno Mars on keyboard lately and I was wondering if I could play for the choir’s ‘Special Performance’?

    from Mireille

    • Wow Daniel! What a great idea! We have a backing track ready to go but if you are able to record your keyboard piece and send it to me we could rehearse with that. Will you be able to come to St Kevin’s for the 2.30 ‘special assembly’ on Wednesday 5th June and bring your keyboard and set up? Thanks for your email (my email marge@sktemplestowelr.catholic.edu.au)

    • Hi Mireille,
I did not read your email correctly. It has Daniel’s Marcellin address and I thought it was from him. We can talk about this and your idea for playing keyboard tomorrow or Tuesday at school. from Mrs Weston
